Heartland Assays is located in Ames, Iowa at the Iowa State University Research Park. Heartland Assays utilizes a comprehensive range of state-of-the-art analytical techniques and instruments in their 2,500 square foot laboratory to provide cutting-edge analytics, robust methodologies consistently producing precise and accurate results.
Heartland has FDA approved high-efficiency equipment that is a fully automated chemiluminescence analyzer to perform complete sample processing. With a high throughput, this machine allows us to run high volumes of samples with precision and accuracy.
Heartland has equipment available to perform gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (Agilent, 7890/5977) on various specimens and matrices.
Heartland has equipment available to perform a wide array of mass spectrometry (Agilent, 1290 HPLC and 6460 MS/MS) on various specimens and matrices.
Heartland has the ability to perform analyses using procedures designed for high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC) through a fully automated analytical HPLC system, the Beckman System Gold equipped with a UV detector, Agilent 1100 analytical HPLC, or through a Varian prep HPLC system for large samples or custom experiments.
The lab is equipped with a Lab Systems plate reader and well washer to perform enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) for hormone analysis. The laboratory can run colorimetric testing using a Lab Systems Multiskan plate reader and Lab Systems plate washer.
The laboratory also contains support equipment including a Labconoco Freeze Dry System, Buchi Rotavap, Savant SpeedVac concentrator, two Labconoco safety hoods, Beckman J-6M centrifuge, VWR Advanced Homogenizing System and other necessary equipment (pH meters, ultra-pure water, balances, centrifuges, stir plates, etc). We also have a prep-clean room outfitted with a bone grinder to handle complex matrices and high concentrations.
